What we collect, and why.
Rancho Machete is a small direct beef business outside Grass Valley, California. We collect the details you type into a form so we can answer you. We do not sell them, and we do not send marketing to people who have not asked for it.
What you give us
Only what a form asks for. Depending on which one you use, that is your name, email address, phone number, town or ZIP, a delivery or pickup preference, the share, box or cuts you are interested in, and anything you write in a notes field.
The reservation form also records which payment method you would prefer to discuss. Restaurant inquiries additionally include your business name, type, and the volume and format your kitchen needs.
Inquiry forms ask for a payment preference only. Online purchases use Shopify checkout, where Shopify and its payment providers handle payment details. The ranch website does not store your full card number.
What we do with it
We email it to the ranch so a person can read it and reply, and we email a copy back to you as a receipt. We keep inquiries and reservations for as long as we are doing business with you, and for our own records afterwards.
Email updates you choose
Marketing emails require your permission. Buying beef, requesting a share, or making an ordinary inquiry does not subscribe you. The Beef Club interest list covers Beef Club enrollment news only unless you separately ask for more.
Shopify holds marketing consent and its date. When you use our ranch updates signup, we also record the signup source, consent wording, and interests you choose: cuts, shares, or Beef Club. Restaurant contacts are handled separately.
Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email to stop those emails. Order receipts and replies to your inquiries continue. A previous unsubscribe is not reversed by an ordinary form submission; contact the ranch from the same email address if you want to rejoin or change your interests. We retain a minimal consent and unsubscribe record to respect your choice.
Who else touches it
Resend delivers the email. Your submission passes through their systems in order to reach our inbox and yours. Resend also delivers the welcome email for new ranch updates signups.
Shopify provides the cart, checkout, customer and order records, marketing consent records, and our marketing email tools. Its payment providers process online payments.
Vercel hosts the site and provides its traffic analytics. Standard server logs, which include IP addresses, are created when you load a page. The analytics are aggregate and cookie-free — they measure page views, not people.
We do not use advertising pixels on the ranch website or sell your personal information to data brokers. Shopify checkout has its own service and privacy settings.
Your choices
Write to us and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, and we extend the same courtesy to everyone regardless of where they live. We will not treat you differently for asking.
Because we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than quietly swapped in.
